“Loyalty isn’t grey. It’s black and white. You’re either loyal completely, or you’re not loyal at all”

This deep quote defines loyalty with the simple concept of color. Saying that loyalty is not grey, means that a person cannot be loyal at times, but at other times not so much. If a person is only loyal half of the time they are living, that person would be classified as disloyal. Loyalty is a major trait humans look for in their friends and in their spouses and it is a trait I believe I have. Loyalty was implemented in my siblings and I at a very young age. We were constantly told that a person is only as good as their word. Someone who always says they are going to do something but never does it, is often times very unsuccessful. This is completely true because we all know the people who say they are going to do something, but never wind up doing that something. These people are usually not that depended on and often times do not have many people they can rely on.
Throughout my life I have been faced with situations in which if I pick one way to go about it, I would be classified as disloyal. For example, my youth football program was one of the worst programs in the city in terms of record and coaching. At the time, I thought it would be a good idea to quit the team and join a different team with a better record and better coaching. But, I realized there was a real sense of brotherhood within the team. This sense of camaraderie made it impossible for me to quit, so I continued to play and I stayed loyal to my teammates.
Loyalty is not always based on being loyal to other members of society though, it is also about being loyal to yourself. By this I mean truly believing in yourself and putting yourself in the best positions to succeed. With the Minneapolis Next scholarship I have been awarded I truly believe that I have the ability to stay loyal to myself and my family by putting myself in the best environment to succeed and continuing to build character by staying loyal in difficult situations.
